I have been so lucky......
I have barefaced cheek, determination, and I try to think ahead. I have been able to meet Jonathan on many occasions. In fact, he now knows me by name and sometimes I get a kiss ! I've waited around for hours outside theatres, I've chatted up theatre staff and security people, I've managed to be in the right place at the right time.

My first meeting with Jonathan was in September 1997. I had been a fan of his for a while and had been waiting for my chance to meet him. Lo and behold, a charity quiz was advertised in a national daily newspaper, and Jonathan was one of many celebrities who would be taking part. I managed to get tickets and on the night of the quiz, I chatted to theatre staff who told me where to stand so that I would be sure to see him when he came in. Sure enough, he walked right in, just inches away from me.I introduced myself and asked if he would wait after the show because I was eager to have my photo taken with him. He agreed and true to his word, he waited to see me. We had a brief chat, I asked him for a kiss and then I had my photo taken with him. It truly was a night to remember. |
Jonathan and me at the Tricyle Theatre after the Quiz
Cardiff 1999. My 2 friends and fellow Jon-fans and I had found out that Jonathan was going to be reading a poem in Welsh at the opening of the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff. One friend was Liz, who dosn't live very far from me and Barbara (Momcat) was visiting me from Illinois,USA. She had been a fan of Jonathan for 14 years and had longed to meet him. After a bit of detective work, we discovered that he would be rehearsing during the evening, so we spent the day in Cardiff and then went down to the huge arena at the bay, to wait for him. Lots of other famous Welsh stars were there too - such as Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. Jonathan finally arrived at 9pm and Barbara was bowled over when she got to plant a kiss on his cheek and have her photo taken with him. He was so polite and patient and really made our day. In fact, we were in such a dizzy state that we missed our train and had to be rescued by Liz's husband!! As soon as we returned home, Barbara phoned her daughter in the States and was able to say "I met him at LAST". |

Me and Jonathan - Cardiff

June 1998. Jonathan was one of the stars taking part in 'Hey Mr Producer !' a tribute to Sir Cameron Mackintosh. Almost every musical star you could think of took part in this fantastic show - Elaine Paige, Michael Ball, Lea Salonga and Dame Julie Andrews to name but a few. I visited Jonathan at the theatre on the day of final rehearsals and had this photo taken with him. The show itself was a true night to remember and which every fan of muscial theatre would treasure forever.

The Apollo Theatre, London. Before the afternoon performance of 'The Goat'.
Jonathan posed for this picture with Liz, my friend and fellow fan. He was so sweet to us, laughing and joking and very relaxed.
Fiorenzo, another friend and fan took the photograph . I was in such a state that I was shaking - Mr.Pryce has that sort of effect on some of his fans.
Liz, Fio and I just could not stop smiling for hours afterwards. |

The last night of 'My Fair Lady' at the Theatre Royal,Drury Lane Liz and I decided to wait outside the theatre before the show.We knew that there would probably be a last-night party and didn't want to risk waiting until afterwards.
We were able to chat to Jonathan for a while outside the theatre, and as we were talking, a drunk came along and started to play the harmonica to Jonathan - I don't if he realised who Jonathan was, but soon this chap had his arm around Jonathans shoulders, and didn't want to let go. !!
Had it been me,I would probably have run away, but Jonathan was brilliant, very cool, calm and collected and with a great sense of humour. He offered the chap 50p to stop playing the mouth organ and go away and he did !!
The show was excellent of course - I often wish it were back again.
